What is Leather Manufacturing?

Leather is the process of turning raw material into leather through three processes: preparatory stages, tanning, and crusting. However, the operations that the hide goes through (which can range from 35 to 55 different operations) are all dependent on the type of leather that a manufacturer is producing. The Leather Manufacturing Process

Neutralizing 

The process of making leather starts with neutralizing acids relating to tanning. 

Withering

The wet raw materials are put in metal rolls to squeeze out any remaining water. Finally, the material goes through its final stages. 

Sorting 

Any necessary repairs or alterations are made at this point, after the leather has undergone a quality inspection. This will entail actions like shaving, dyeing, drying, softening, and finishing.
